What is a Hellfire missile? The Hellfire is an American-made, air-to-surface precision missile originally developed for anti-armor use. The missile can be launched from a variety of platforms, including helicopters like the AH-64 Apache, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) like the MQ-9 Reaper, and ground or sea vehicles. A notable variant, the R9X "Ninja Bomb," uses pop-out blades instead of an explosive warhead for highly precise strikes with minimal collateral damage.
